This is what happens when I'm left to my own devices. Sometimes there's nothing more satisfying than buying a new sketchbook and slowly filling it with beautiful things. When it comes to fabric scraps, I'm a bit of a hoarder; never sure what to do with these few beautiful inches left over from the cutting process, so I decided to make this little sketchbook filled with swatches of the fabrics I've used each season. The little scraps look so beautiful side by side and I feel the texture stands out even more than when on an actual garment. I can't wait until I've completed 20 seasons and I can flick back through, satisfied at the fabrics I've used throughout the years.

Such a beautiful idea Charlie! I can't wait to see how the book develops! xx
ReplyDeleteAnd then when you have a giant, worldwide brand and don't talk to any of us anymore, we can go to a book store and buy a glossy coffee table book of photographs of your swatches.
ReplyDeleteP.S. When I saw the title of this post in my reader I was horrified. I should've known there'd be no plastic watches...
I love that idea! Except for the not talking to you part.
DeleteI didn't even think that people might think watches, eeek! You should have known they would never appear here.
Oh, I stop talking to everyone eventually... It's entropy, or something.
DeleteI think it's just because I've seen them cropping up on people's blogs recently. And the bastards keep emailing me.
I like your blog, your photographs...
ReplyDeleteGood luck for thhe futur !

This is actually really cool. A great way to see how things have evolved and what you've been using.

This way you can see how all the fabrics and colors in each season compliment each other! Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThat's such a clever idea, I love it, I love the scissors with the zig-zag blade, always makes cutting so much more fun! x
ReplyDeleteI know! I only found out last season that they were made to stop fabric fraying before overlocking was invented! Pretty amazing to think that all seams used to look that way inside a garment.
DeleteThat makes it so much easier at shopping time!! Smart and fun!
