BLURRING THE LINES WITH NON

The new 'Alchemia Mysteria' collection from NON plays with elements of womenswear, such as nipped in waists, pearls and mary janes, to create a dramatic and some what unusual menswear S/S 11 collection. The way NON plays around with volume has always excited me; they are not threatened with going outside the realms of the typical male and female silhouette; they have fun blurring the lines, creating voluminous shapes with unexpected textures like lace and pleats. I particularly like the detailing in the 3rd and 4th looks with gathers in the arms and from the waist. 

It goes without saying that the incredible Salvador Dali-esque photography mimics NONs surreal design esthetic and creates a whole other dimension for them to play in.

DAVID KOMA COLLABORATES WITH MAWI

I was seriously late to the David Koma show last season, so much so that I was squeezed into the back unable to see a thing, and had to climb up onto the railings near the seats to be able to see anything! I missed the first half on the show and needless to say I missed the incredible David Koma Mawi colab on the models.

Mawi and David are mutual fans of each others work and it was inevitable that the two would come together; Using cubist artist Fernand Leger as inspiration, Mawi created these strong jagged geometric pieces in gold and silver to accompany David's strong ballerina bodycon aesthetic.

Prices for these bespoke pieces range between a pricey £600 and £5000, but they are nice to look at.

THOMAS TAIT SS 2011

Thomas Tait SS 2011 London

So i've finally had the chance to post Thomas Tait's debut collection and the collection that I have been working on this last month. This is my favourite show from LFW, and I'm not just saying that because I worked so closely with it.

Sharp structured silhouettes in midnight blue with shocks of nude, layered skorts, leo's and envelope skirts (ass cardigans) accompanied by studded cuffs and stiff leather clutches.

Angular open backs and hips complemented the bone structure whilst the show make up itself was kept to a minimum, simply highlighting the natural beauty of the models.

Thomas Tait is the one to watch; with his modern, chic and elegant design aesthetic, insane attention to detail, and passionate drive; in my mind he is the most exciting designer in London right now.

James Long SS 2011 London

Paint splatters, pastel knits, loose weaves, hairy leather, sharp tailoring against comfy slouchy was all on show at James Long on the final menswear day at London Fashion Week.

James Long is always my favourite show on the menswear day. The leather, knits and accessories always accompany each other with such harmony and seriously satisfy my texture cravings.

I'm excited to see a 'Shop' section on his website too. Fingers crossed!
