BREAKFAST WITH SWEDISH HASBEENS

Wearing: Yohji Yamamoto jacket, 2nd Day tank, Nicolas Andreas Taralis skirt, Acne trousers, Converse trainers, Mimco bag, Dominic Jones and Backstage rings
Last week I had the chance to meet the founder of Swedish Hasbeens at Selfridges for the launch of their pop up store. It was so much fun, with a whole choreographed dance of girls bending into insane positions and flying through the air with ribbon sticks! It was the perfect way to show off the new SH collection, still with a hint of clog but mostly inspired by the classic bowling shoe. Emy, the founder of the iconic shoes and I could not have been more oppositely dressed she was telling the story of the beginnings of the brand; when they started in 2006 it was hard because everybody was having a black moment, now the world is more accepting of colour and their business is thriving, I suppose I'm still stuck in 2006 then!
This is one of my more casual looks that I've been living in recently, loving my new shoes from Mr Porter! Michael actually pulled Alexxsia aside at the launch to double check if I knew I was wearing trainers, I love them ok? Now to get my hands on some of these bowling babies!

This Saturday I'm very excited to have my work selling alongside fashion favourites James Long, Atalanta Weller and more at the ONEDAYSHOP concept pop up store, Dalston. It's your chance to get your hands on an exclusive designer selection of one off pieces or last chance to buy designer must haves. I will be selling a few one off catwalk pieces from my graduate collection, the full length suede double breasted dress and brushed cotton trousers you see above, as well as some bits from my S/S 12. As you can see I've been busy working in the studio! I look forward to seeing you all there at 10am, there will be complimentary bloody mary's for those of you who need it!
Prices will range from £25 to £400.

BRUSSELS BOUTIKQ

All the wonders the Brussels Boutikq pop up shop had to offer, including some of my favourites from Marc Philippe Coudeyre, and Guiseppe Virgone who we met on the fashion trail the next day. The pop up shop happens every year around the time of the fashion trail so, a definite stop off for anyone visiting Brussels looking to find some young design talent. The pop up store will also be visiting London in a couple of weeks at St Pancras, email or comment if you want the exact date and place and I will pin it down for you.

THE SPIRIT OF FASHION

Tuesday morning I was invited down to see the opening of the Spirit of Fashion pop up shop on 4 Monmouth street in Covent Garden. The store is stocked with exclusive limited edition collections by Carolyn Massey, Rachael Barrett and Matthew Miller.
They are all winners of this years McArthurGlen Spirit of Fashion awards, set up in partnership with the Royal College of Art to recognise young talent and nurture them, helping them to increase their profile and evolve their businesses.
Matthew Miller focused his collection around the blueprint for the 'perfect white shirt', using new 3D technology to help design and cut the fabric, this reduced waste and was more cost efficient and environmentally friendly. I would love to try out one of these machines! It's sounds like the future.
Carolyn Massey was inspired by reinventing the Grandad shirt adding unique hidden elements such as gussets and removable chains around the collar.
Rachael Barrett produced a whole capsule collection influenced by school uniforms; she created blazers, tunics and pleated skirts using exploratory bonding techniques. I was sad to leave before talking to Rachael about her collection, it was all so beautiful.
I was even luckier to be able to choose a piece for my own wardrobe, I must have tried on everything, there was so much choice! Unfortunately the mens shirts were still a little too manly for me to be able to pull off so I went with some beautiful wool culotte shorts by Rachael. I have so many shirts and blouses, it was good to get a really special piece, unique to my wardrobe.

The pop up shop is open until the 17th before it moves across the country to Manchester and Glasgow.
