SKULLS AND TRINKETS

I discovered Kyle Hopkins through a meeting one day with Harriet from HPR, as we were chatting I started noticing the gold and silver pieces beside me, slowly trying them on Harriet started explaining to me all the stories behind each piece; lips cast from his first kiss, his sisters ear, fingerprint rings (you can have these done with your own print); it was clear that there's meaning behind Kyle's work. 'He casts imagination and enquiry, starting a story for someone else to finish. So when the jewel reaches its new owner, she just takes over the narative'. I think the silver pieces are my favourite, especially the signat rings shown here, and the fingerprint rings which for some reason aren't here! Currently, you can buy Kyle's pieces on Kabiri.

ACNE BETTER LATE THAN NEVER

I'd been meaning to do this Yellow Door press day/Acne post for a while, but after getting my new camera I stashed my old one out of sight and only just found it, it's memory card full with last seasons press days. It must be my senile old blogger age, but I thought better late than never; plus everything you see here is available to buy now! Which is always a plus.

The leather jackets and shoes from Acne are always my favourite and this season, I fell in love particularly with the white leather pieces and the platform shoes, I'm in love with Ivania's suede pair more than the blue silk, and even more with these mid calf boots. I found one style to be a bit of a Simone Rocha rip off (the high heeled brogue) but other than that thumbs up all round.

 I warn you there may be more of these belated press days to come (sorry!) but I do quite like seeing the garments and accessories without a body to cloud your judgement; pure design appreciation is what I'm after.

TREATS AT MY WARDROBE

Not just treats in the form of food at the My Wardrobe press day but lots of treats to be available to buy online very soon too. I've personally got my eye on the Theyskins Theory bag pictured last, which actually dropped a few days ago but sold out in the same day! Damn. All the accessories were pretty gorge, Camilla Skovgaard and Philip Lim, mmmm. I don't know if it was just the cold either, but I seemed to have been photographing a lot of cosy looking jumpers by Acne and Burberry too. Which item is your favourite?

Some covetable Topshop pieces from their last press day, which means it must be in stores now (wahoo!) How often online do you see something which is available to buy right away? I definitely need to take a trip into Oxford Street soon, also because for the next few weeks the Regent St side entrance of the store has been turned into Edited By; a mini Tophop with all the best pieces hand picked from the main store by a different editor each month. The first is Dazed & Confused's Katie Shillingford and will give a true insight into one of London style visionaries. Not only will the clothes be hand picked by Katie but also the music in the the space itself as well as a selection of books and magazines that are inspirational to her. I tend to get a little nauseous when shopping in the huge flagship store, so this mini store filled will all the best items hand picked by Katie Shillingford? It sounds almost too good to be true.
