FASHION IN MOTION - YOHJI YAMAMOTO AT THE V&A

Last week I was went to the V&A to watch Fashion in Motion featuring the work of Yohji Yamamoto. It was very much a continuation from the exhibition and featured work from the Spring/Summer 2011 collections. The models were real life couples (so cute!) an idea which Yohji had first put into practise on his S/S 1999 collection, believing that he only makes 80% of the garment, the wearer completes the other 20 with how they make it their own.
The show was really beautiful, especially set in the Raphael Gallery with huge paintings surrounding the walls. The clothes were obviously amazing, so many textures and colours. I adored the prints against the deep black wools and the floating chiffon. The tailored shirts and jackets for the men were incredible, great use of fabrics. The finale piece that somewhat resembled a 'naughties' blow up creation (do you remember that trend?) put a smile on everyone's face.
Thank you to Jasmine for inviting me. I'm seriously looking forward to V&A events like this in the future.

ROMINA KARAMANEA S/S 11

This year I'm into prints in a big way, there are many designers doing print in the right way at the moment and one of my
favourites is Romina Karamanea.
Back when I met Romina at the Estethica Press Day held at Somerset House she expressed to me how happy she was with this collection, previously her collections had been reviewed as being very dark but she insisted she loves colour. Quite rightly proven in this collection for S/S 11, the marbled prints combined with the bright popping colours are stunning, whilst the cut leaves backs open, necks high and
contrasts loose silhouettes with tighter to the body pieces.

A closer look at some of the ACNE S/S 11, obsessed with that suede maxi skirt!
Every girl needs the perfect silk shirt, and you can get one in pretty much any colour way you desire! Equipment Femme originally launched in 1979 and became one of the most coveted items of the 80's and 90's. Relaunched recently with the help of Christian Restoin, parter to French Vogue's Carine Roitfeld, the label is growing fast.
Helmut Lang always doing it right.
Completely head over heels for these IRO pieces.
 Vanessa Bruno
Australian Beau Coops
Despite this being S/S 11, it was so cold on the MyWardrobe press day I could not stop lusting after all the knits!

The MyWardrobe Press Day was such a breath of fresh air from the cold miserable weather. We had so much fun looking through the new S/S 11 lines, even dreaming up an upcoming African Safari adventure (I wish!).
MyWardrobe has something for everyone when it comes to style and design, I can't wait to get my hands on these gorgeous Spring/Summer goodies!
