SNIPPETS

A few of my favourite images from my AW12 presentation the other night by Zana. It's so exciting seeing reviews and images coming through as I was on such an adrenaline high, it's tough remembering what happened exactly! It was such a pleasure meeting Zana and Ivania in person for the first time, although it felt as if we already knew each other. I'll post full presentation images after fashion week, but in the mean time you can see some more from Ivania, Sandra and Jen.
A big thanks to sponsors Patrón for providing delicious drinks for the night! Also Bumble and bumble and Laura Mercier for the beauty products.

DOMINIC JONES SS12

Totally insanely in love with the new collection of Dominic Jones SS12, the rings pictured first especially! I'm glad they had the lookbook images handy as I don't think I'd have quite understood how to wear them otherwise. I also love that the colour black (irodium) has been introduced into the mix, with every piece being available in the four metals. In the next door room the film to accompany the collection played on loop, featuring Catherine Pockson, singer of The Alpines, who also played a set later on in the evening. I love that last shot of Dominic chatting to Maria Francesca Pepe, another jewellery designer to look out for.

CRAIG LAWRENCE SS12

Craig Lawrence's SS12 collection featured layering of evening dresses and box pleat skirts, sweetie bra's  and loose knit jumpers all in pastel and metallic yarn. The presentation was very craftmanship focused, with a man reading out how every outfit was made replacing the usually heavy beat of the catwalk. It was very serene and allowed you time to really appreciate what you were seeing. It was through this I learned that Swarovski crystals were embedded into the strands of yarn for particular garments that glistened as they moved. The styling was obviously incredible, I don't know how or who made the headpieces, but they were the perfect finishing touch.

***Thank you anonymous commenter (who says they're all bad?) The headpieces are by Steven Doherty made from Alacantara fabric with Swarovski elements.***

JEAN-PAUL GAULTIER FOR LA PERLA LFW PRESENTATION

My favourite presentation of all (from a purerly selfish point of view) had to be the Jean-Paul Gaultier for La Perla collection. It is always exciting when a collection exceeds your own hype and this was even more beautiful in person than any pictures portray. The collection is so sexy and so feminine, you just wanted to try it all on immediately!
I always find myself staring at the Gaultier perfume ads for the magnificent corsets, now Gaultier has successfully brought cone bra's to the masses.
Apparently the designer approached La Perla 20 years ago to do a lingerie collection and the owner of the company refused, a few years ago the owner passed away and the company exchanged hands. Gaultier approached them again and they (obviously) lept at the chance.
My favourite piece has to be the triple strap nude bra with shoulder pads, pictured second. Imagine wearing it under a sheer top...

“Lingerie is part of my DNA and of my heritage,” Gaultier said. “In my latest prêt-à-porter collection I revisited the conical bras and corsets worn as outerwear. This collaboration was a natural and logical step, especially since La Perla is the pearl of the lingerie, with the best savoir faire.” Stylist
A limited edition back stitch satin bra with shoulder motif and garter belt are to be shown in Paris for Gaultier's Haute Couture collection next July.
The collection you see here is set to hit stores in November.
