A MUGLER MAN

Mugler S/S 12 - 'Brothers of Arcadia'
Inspired by Greek gods with a mixture of school uniforms and the 80's club scene, it would seem. Nicola Formichetti was inspired by fantasy, dreams and voyeurism; with the accessibility of pornography and uploading films onto Xtube, this was a chance to cut out the middle man and make an erotic fashion film to accompany an erotic S/S 12 collection.
I love the cut as always (obsessed with those half jackets) and the unusual pastel green and lilac colour palette. I didn't think i'd see a season where Mugler would out-colour Jil Sander, I'm excited for the change though.

MUGLER AW11

So, the Mugler show last night caused quite a stir with everyone glued to their laptop screens for the live stream. Before the catwalk actually began we were shown around backstage, front of house, models dressing, Gaga practicing her walk through, even Anna Wintour's phone conversations. It was a different experience to say the least!
Then the models came out and we were transported back to the 90's with the girls attitude (everyone who watched the McQueen documentary last week will know what I mean - a different time!)
I'm completely in love with the tight bra-lets, so flattering; whilst the sheer exposed large fishnet legs and nipples galore. The wool suits with alien shoulder pads and latex bras poking out felt like a very modern Mugler woman.
I think Nicola Formichetti has done the perfect job of bringing Mugler forward without watering it down in any way.

MUGLER

Thierry Mugler Menswear A/W 11/12 completely stole my heart. Nicola Formichetti can do no wrong in my eyes and now he's at the helm of Mugler things are going to keep getting better. The soundtrack to the video by Lady Gaga is super hot, it's a re worked song from 'Born this Way'.

Y-3 AUTUMN/WINTER 2010/11

Photography: Alasdair McLellan
Cinematography: Theo Stanley / New Mountain
Styling: Nicola Formichetti
Location: Pier 54, Hudson River Park - New York City

For the Y-3 Autumn/Winter campaign Yohji wanted to focus on movement, fusing sport directly to high end fashion.
Nicola creates a dramatic and poetic story in black and white, with beautiful tulle's and chiffon's rippling through the backdrop of the video.
The garments themselves really caught my attention; long winter coats, wrapped up in scarfs, thick leggings and trousers that leave me craving for winter to return.

"Recently the trend has been for tighter and shorter and sexier clothes, I wanted to wrap the body again, and not show too much." Yohji Yamamoto

Gagaaaa ooh Gaga...

Lady Gaga at the 13th annual ACE Awards on style.com

I had completely forgotten about the team up of Lady G and Tokyo porno/art photographer Nobuyoshi Araki. She thanked him at the ACE "for photographing my soul". Now after seeing the pictures I am a little disturbed.

I don't know what I expected from this, I guess not lady gaga tied up and gagged? I don't particularly like this editorial. The fact that there is paint smeared all over the place just seems like they are trying to detract from the fact that Lady Gaga is starkers in most of the photos. I do however love her outfit at the ACE awards...
What do you guys think anyway? Do you see her soul here?
